He was born July 21, 1912, in Morgan County. He was retired from the Morgan County Sheriff's Department and the Hartselle Police Department.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Abercrombie, and one son, Jerry Abercrombie.
He is survived by one son, Shirley Abercrombie of Capshaw; one grandson, Shirley "Peanut" Abercrombie Jr. of Capshaw; one granddaughter, Cindy Witt of Elkmont; and several nieces and nephews.
