Mary Frances Hartley Helfrich, 88, died Saturday, November 10, in her residence under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc. She was born in Decatur and had lived in Savannah since 1946. She attended North Avenue Presbyterian School, in Atlanta and graduated from Brenau Academy, in Gainesville and Georgia State College for Women, in Milledgeville, where she received her teaching certificate. She was a memebr of the Froebel Circle where she made President Emeritus in 1997. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Savannah and the D.A.R. She was the widow of Carl Edward Helfrich, who she married Novemver 22, 1935; he was partner in the architect firm Helfrich, Grantham and Helfrich. She is survived by: Son, Carl P. Helfrich, Atlanta, 3 Grandchildren, Holley Morgan Helfrich, Savannah, Bernice Helfrich Frady and Carl Edward Helfrich, both of Atlanta, 2 Great-Grandchildren, Paxon and Steven Frady, both of Atlanta. Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 13, in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery. Remembrances: Hospice Savannah, Inc., P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.
