George E. Keeton, 97 of Mason City, died Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, December 31, 2018 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
George Eugene was born on April 22, 1921 in Mason City the son of George J. and Cora Keeton. He graduated from High School and then attended one year of college. He was employed as a lead lineman with Electric Power Company and then for the US Government on power line projects. He worked in several locations including Mason City, St. Paul, MN, North Dakota, the Tucson and Phoenix area, Denver Co, and Kodiak and Fairbanks Alaska. He honorably served his country in the Navy from 1942 until discharge in 1945after serving during WWII and Korea. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in St. Paul Park, and a seventy year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union.
On August 3, 1941 he was united in marriage to Virginia in Kahoka, Missouri. To this union was born two children.
His daughter Barbara Carlson of Van Meter, Iowa, two grandchildren Deb Carlson, Adel; and Ron Carlson, Van Meter, along with one great grandchild Ryan Carlson survives him.
Preceding George in death are his son Bryan William Keeton in February 1954, his wife in February 2009 and a sister Maye Edison.
