In 1850, Addie and her brothers, Arthur Edwin and Joseph Hamilton Pierce are living with their maternal uncle, George Allen in Milan, Monroe, Michigan; they had been recently orphaned. She married Hiram Hartley Poe on 23 Dec 1858. In 1860, Addie, Hiram and their infant son Frank were living in Napoleon, Ohio. Frank died in 1862. In 1863, Arthur Edwin Poe was born. After the untimely death of her husband in 1867, Addie and her remaining son were living with her brother, Arthur E. Pierce in Indiana. Unfortunately, Addie became institutionalized and died in July 1870.
