Mass of Christian Burial for Elizabeth Reed Koumas, 92, of Camden, will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church at 2:00 PM Monday, June 23, 2008 with The Rite of Committal in Quaker Cemetery. Father Francis Travis will officiate. Active pallbearers will be grandsons: Mark Koumas, Michael Koumas, George Koumas, Jr., John Koumas, Jr., David Pender, Jr., Reed O'Donovan and Tony Walker. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 8:30 PM.
Mrs. Koumas, widow of the late Peter George Koumas, died Friday, June 20, 2008. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Nero and Nora Sheheen Reed. Mrs. Koumas was proprietress of M & K Coffee Shop and the Burndale Liquor Store. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she served on the Alter Guild.
Surviving are 1 daughter, Theresa Walker (Mack) of Camden; 2 sons, John Koumas (Delores) of Lugoff and George Koumas (Connie) of Camden; beloved nieces and nephews, Beverly Pender (David) of Chapin, Brenda O'Donovan (Cross) of Baltimore, MD, Albert Reed (Sarah) of Camden, Richard Reed (Linda) of Ohio, Debbie Norman (Dean) of West Columbia; 1 sister, Theresa Ennis of Camden; 22 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and her beloved caregiver, Jennifer Currie.
