Mrs. Priscilla Cooper Died Sunday Afternoon

Well known and Highly Esteemed Woman Died at Family Home on East Wabash Street.

Following an illness of more than six months, Mrs. Priscilla Cooper, died at the family home, 800 East Wabash street at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, death resulting from a complication of ailments.

The deceased, a native of Clinton County, was born near Kirklin, February 24, 1841, and was past 84 years of age. Mrs. Cooper was a daughter of Ashbury and Mary Amos, early residents of the county.

At the age of 21 years, she was united in marriage with James Carter in 1862. His death occurred in 1879 and in 1887, she was united in marriage with John W. Cooper, who died in 1909.

At the age of 15 years she united in membership with the Salem M. E. Church and was a member of the M. E. Church of Frankfort at the time of her death. She was also a member of the Electa Bible class.

Five children by her first marriage survive. The are Mrs. C.E. Wimborough and Mrs. D.D. Christy of Pickard, Mrs. W.H. Cast of Kirklin, Mrs. J.H. Pierce of Warren, Kansas, and Miss Mary Carter, a teacher in the Riley school, who resided with her mother.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren. Two stepsons, J.R. Cooper of Kempton and Dr. W.F. Cooper of Sheridan, also survive.

For many years, Mrs. Cooper resided on a farm east of this city where she reared her children and her entire life had been spent within the county. For the past 13 years, she had been a resident of this city.

She was well known and held in high esteem by her many friends. She was a devout Christian woman and not only took an active part in the work of the church, but followed its teachings in her daily life.

Funeral services will be conducted from the family home at 10 o'clock this morning. The services will be conducted by the Rev. F.L. Hovis and interment will be made in the Oak Hill cemetery near Kirklin.
