Frank (Tony) Buchanan, 74, a retired farmer of Blue Hole Road in Campbellsville, son of the late G.W. Buchanan and Walter Ann Hazelwood Buchanan, was born in Taylor County July 9, 1912. He died at 7:42 a.m., Thursday, April 2, 1987, at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville after a brief illness. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He united in marriage to Ethel Shaw Nov. 6, 1954. Besides his wife, Ethel Shaw Buchanan, Blue Hole Road, he is survived by two daughters and one son, Ellen Buchanan, Campbellsville, Barbara Lewis, Louisville, and George R. Buchanan, Cookeville, Tenn.; one granddaughter and two grandsons, Karen Buchanan, Phoenix, Ariz., Kevin Buchanan, El Paso, Texas, and Josh Buchanan, Cookeville, Tenn. He is also survived by four sisters and one brother, Katharyn Hiestand, Campbellsville, Mary Monarch, Maragate, Fla., Ada Smauder, Birmingham, Mich., Margaret Jones, Summerland Key, Fla., and Russell Buchanan, Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers: Frances Jackson, Betty Prescott, Walter (Tuck) Buchanan, Wood Buchanan, George Buchanan, and Henry Buchanan. The funeral was at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 5, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Dr. Billy Joe Cox, Dr. Rodford McDonald, and the Rev. Richard Ramsey. Burial was in the Brookside Cemtery. Pallbearers were Forrest Maupin, J.T. Rogers, Gus Goff, Jerry Campbell, Reesor Miller and Alva McKinley. Funeral services for Mrs. Walter Ann Hazelwood Buchanan, 77 year old widow of the late G. W. "Tony" Buchanan, were held Tuesday, November 8 at 2 p.m. from the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home with the Rev. A. H. Gregory in charge, assisted by Dr. J. Chester Badgett and Rev. K. A. Loy. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. The pallbearers were Harold Kirtley, Garland Rose, Bobby Blakeman, Ivan Tucker, Johnnie Burkholder, and Herbert Gaddie. Mrs. Buchanan, daughter of the late William H. Hazelwood and Mrs. Samira Hazelwood, was born April 8, 1878 in Green County, Ky. She died Sunday, November 6 at 9:30 a.m. at her home on Lebanon Avenue following an illness of several months. She professed faith in Christ at an early age in life and was a member of the Campbellsville Methodist Church. She united in marriage to G. W. "Tony" Buchanan on May 2, 1894 and he preceded her in death on July 24, 1948. To this union six sons and six daughters were born. Survivors are Frank and Russell Buchanan, Mrs. S. M. Jackson and Mrs. George Hiestand, all of Campbellsville, Walter T. Buchanan of Cincinnati, Mrs. Earl Jones of Louisville, Mrs. M. O. Prescott of Tallula, Ill., Mrs. Mary Monarch of New York City, and Mrs. E. E. Smauder of Detroit. Besides her children, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Kate Howell of Green County; one half-sister, Miss Bell Hazelwood of Louisville; one half-brother, Robert Hazelwood of Hodgenville; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
