Stephen Jerry Braddock, 83, resident of Memphis for the past 27 years, died in his home early Monday morning. Funeral services were held from the First Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. Roy Shahan officiating, and burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Braddock suffered a stroke late Sunday afternoon and died about 3:00 o'clock the following morning.
He moved here in 1922 from Delta County and was engaged in farming until a few years ago. He was born in Mississippi in 1866.
Surviving relatives include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Freddie Mae Cody of Memphis and Mrs. Della Smith of Clarendon; three sons, Barney and Odie Braddock, both of Clarendon, and Marvin Braddock of Lakeview; one brother, M.H. Braddock of Memphis; one sister, Mrs. Nancy Rich of Ventura, Calif.; 18 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Marcum Funeral Home.
Pall bearers at the services were Homer Smith, S.J. Smith, Harold Braddock, Wesley Braddock, Ernie Anthony and Guy Gambell, all grandsons of the deceased.
Flower girls were Helen Anthony, Winnie Mays, Paulene Gambell, Marie Howell, Lucille Gurley, Kate Braddock and Ethel Mae Cody.
