Davis Columbus Mathis, otherwise known as DC, was the son of Charlie and Emma (Norman) Mathis. He married Jurella Lonsford in 1908, and had sons Doc, Fleet, Rex, Hal, Guy, Troy and Joe. DC was a Construction Foreman for Southern Railway, and therefore moved the family around to several counties of Central and Western, NC until finally settling in Rural Hall, NC prior to 1923 where his sons were mainly raised, and he and Jurella lived their remaining lives. During his lifetime, DC earned the rank of Master Mason; the highest degree of Freemasonry.
