He was a Houston resident for about 50 years. He was a retired railroad man and a member of Woodland Masonic Lodge No 1157, A.F. & A.M., and the Woodland Baptist Church. Survivors: Daughters, Mrs A. M. Reynolds, Mrs Ed C. Davis, both of Houston; son, Gus L Abbitt, Houston; brother Horne Abbitt, Shreveport; granddaughters, Mrs Joyce Bettencourt, Miss [Carolyn] Sue Reynolds; three grandsons, Howard and Glenn, Ed C Davis, Jr.; two great-grandsons.
