CARTHAGE, Mo. - Services for Calvin Wayne Sturgis, 59, Carthage route 6, who died Tuesday, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, Kan.
The Rev. Bert Parker will officiate.
Burial will be in Gandy Cemetery, near Galena.
Pallbearers will be Preston Sturgis, Michael Sturgis, J.D. Sturgis, Glen Sturgis, Terry Sturgis and John Sturgis.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Sturgis was a member of Reinmiller Baptist Church, not Brooklyn Heights Baptist Church as The Globe reported in its Wednesday editions, based on family provided information.

Calvin Sturgis
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Calvin Wayne Sturgis, 59, Carthage route 6, died at 5:15 Tuesday at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after several years of ill health.
Mr. Sturgis was born May 16, 1925, at Galena, Kan. He moved to Carthage from Grants, N.M., about 15 years ago. He was a retired auto mechanic and the owner of the Western Bar in Joplin. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Brooklyn Heights Baptist Church. He married Lillian Wilhite on May 21, 1946, at Columbus, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Roy Sturgis, Carthage route 6; a daughter, Mrs. Jaunice Stapp, Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Joseph Levi Sturgis, Galena, and Donald P. Sturgis, Riverton; six sisters, Mrs. Pauline Stribling, Baxter Springs, Kan., Mrs. Alene Branton, Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. Mildred Simon, Pulaski, Iowa, Mrs. Ruth Hinman, Parsons, Mrs. Jean Clemons, and Mrs. Marlis Patton, both of Kansas City, Kan.; three grandchildren whom he reared, Misty LeeAnn Johnson, Candice Dawn Johnson and Sandra Dee Ann Johnson, all of the home; and three other grandchildren.
Arrangements will be announced by Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena.
