Markham Marshall was the 12th child of David Harmon Sr. He was born 1798 died between 1850 and 1860. He married Margaret Walker on May 10, 1822 in Madison County, AL. Margaret was born in 1803, the daughter of James and Peggy Walker of Madison County.
On the 30th day of Dec., 1852, Markham bought 315 acres of land from Robert Tindell, part of which was on the south west of Shoal Creek, being in the north west quarter of section 21.
A large two story log house was built on this property. It had big fireplace chimneys on each end of the house that covered nearly the whole wall. This house was dismantled in 1974 and one of the large beams had MA Coffman carved in it. It is not certain if Markham built this house himself, but surely he lived there with his wife, Margaret and their seven children.
