He married Susannah Jane Wilson on 18 January 1821, Campbell County, Tennessee. They moved to Ray County, Missouri, before 1827, and to Sugar Creek Township, Harrison Co., MO, by 1845. Here they lived and managed their farm. To the union of Levi and Susannah twelve children were born: four sons and eight daughters. Times became hard, and they lost their farm. In 1858, Levi left for Atchison, Kansas Territory in search for work, possibly on the railroad. In or near Atchison, Kansas Territory Levi passed away on 19 Dec 1858, leaving a teenage son to help his mother run the farm, and provide for the family remaining in the home.

Levi served in the Heatherly War of 1836, Pollard's Unit, and as 3rd Sergeant in the Mormon War of 1838, Capt. James T. Houston's Company Mounted Volunteers. He was also a teamster during the Mexican War. Levi and wife were of the Baptist faith, and were charter members of the Marion Baptist Church organized in Ray Co., MO in 1832.
