Billie Ruth began her life long passion of home making long before it was fashionable. Family time was all about working long hours, eating good, playing hard, being competitive and topping it all off with homemade desserts, including mom's ice cream.
After retirement Don and Billie moved to Gilmer, Texas, starting the next chapter in their lives. Together they helped raise grandchildren, cows and a lot of okra. Some of Billie's many talents were preparing wonderful meals with fresh ingredients that were grown in her garden, baking, sewing, quilt making and crocheting.
Throughout her life, Billie Ruth was committed to honoring God by serving with her talents and gifts. She taught Sunday school classes, prepared meals for and visited many who were homebound or at retirement homes.
She had a passion for traveling with Don and they enjoyed many trips together throughout their lives. Some of their favorite trips revolved around visiting their eldest son, David, in Europe and the Holy Land in Israel.
Billie moved to Cayucos in 2002 after her husband of nearly 60 years passed away. Life became more simple with walks to the Sea Shanty and gazing at the beach. The "Colonel" finally allowed us all to pamper her like a princess. She was blessed to have a wonderful team of healthcare providers and we wish to thank them for filling her life with love and laughter to the very end.
Billie Ruth is survived by her four children ...; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Her tradition and love of preparing good food lives on with each cinnamon roll served at the Sea Shanty.
