Born Dec. 8, 1906, at Mount Union, she was a daughter of he later Frank and Lou Bard. She was married to John Manning Shelley in September 1930. Mr. Shelley died Dec. 25, 1954.
Surviving are four daughters: Mary Ann Smith of Clarendon Hills, Ill.; Kitty Carlson and Margaret Carlson, both of Downers Grove, Ill.; and Ellen Ickes, Altoona; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Evelyn Brandt of Greenville (Pa.) and Eleanor Gensler, York.
A grandson, James Carlson, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Shelly was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg and its Catholic Daughters.
A graduate of the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing, Mrs. Shelley, in addition to being a homemaker, had been employed as a registered nurse at the former Hollidaysburg State Hospital, from which she retired after more than 20 years of service.
She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 312 Clark St., Hollidaysburg, with the Rev. John Palko officiating. Interment will be in the New St. Mary's Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
Friends may call at the Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A wake service will be held at the funeral home Thursday.
