Thelma Callahan Nolette, 91, of Longview, died Dec 4, 2001, at a local nursing home. She was born Aug. 7, 1910, in Coalville, UT, to Thomas and Augusta Wiseman Rees.
She graduated from North Summit High School in Coalville in 1928 as valedictorian. She owned The Spring Chicken Restaurant in Wanship, UT, from 1931 to 1948, involved in all aspects of the business, from raising chickens to cooking them. She moved to Cathlamet in 1948, and worked as a waitress at The Spar and Jim's Cafe for many years. She spent 20 years as a janitor for J. A. Wendt Elementary School, retiring in 1981. She was a member of Elochoman Grange in Cathlamet, was active in the relief Society, served as president and primary teacher at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She lived gardening, cooking and singing.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Boylan of Longview; two granddaughters, Tracy Smith of Battle Ground, and Dustie Montgomery of Aloha, OR; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Deceased are her first husband, Carl Callahan, in 1970; second husband, Armand "Jack" Nolette in 1996; five brothers; and three sisters.
Services will be at 11 am Saturday ah her church in Cathlamet. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
