At the time of the 1900 Census of Indian Territory (Chickasaw Nation, Roff Township, later Pontotoc County), Ala F. Johnston was enumerated with her parents Frank B. and Mary J. Johnston. Her father was listed as being one-quarter Chickasaw Indian and her mother one-half Choctaw Indian, making their children (Albert, Edward H., Ala F., Blanch L., and Myrtle L.) five-eights mixed Chickasaw/Choctaw. A Dawes Roll Index listed a "B. F. Johnston" on Roll 310--it is not known at this time if this was Allie's father.
