ALBANY FARMER WHIRLED TO DEATH

Starting Gasoline Engine His Clothes Were Caught by the Crank found Unconscious by Wife—Died Next Day.

A fatal accident cut short the life of Elmer Turner, living near New Bethel Church, while he was in the act of starting a seven-horsepower gasoline engine. When the engine started Mr. Turner's clothes caught at the crank and he was whirled around with the flywheel.

He was alone at the time, but was found unconscious a few minutes later by his wife. He was fastened so tightly to the engine by hiss clothes that the clothes had to be cut to release the unfortunate man. The accident happened between 4 and 5 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, but he never regained consciousness. Medical aid was summoned, the injured man put to bed and the best attention given him. but he died at 8:30 a.m.. Wednesday. He had an arm and a leg broken and a deep gash in the head.

Deceased was born September 20, 1806 in Albany township and only last spring bought the old Braucher homestead, near the New Bethel Church. He was the son of the late William and M. Elizabeth (nee Wagner) Turner, and was aged 24 years, 1 month and 18 days. He is survived by his widow, Jennie (nee Miller): two children, Leon and Lovie; his mother, and the following brothers and sisters: William R., of Minersville: David M., of Kempton: George W., of Schuylkill Haven: Samuel A., Kempton; Mrs. Land Lorah. Schuylkill Haven ; Mrs. Charles Pauley, Kempton: Mrs. Henry Oensineer, Orwiesburg; Mrs. Charles Rissmiller, Pottsville, and a stepsister, Mary, of Shillington.

The funeral will be held from his late services and interment at New Bethel home on Monday, at 1 p. m. Further Church. Rev. M. F. Klingaman will officiate. Undertaker Danenhower has charge.
