Alice "Lorraine" Drissell Russell Allen
1924 - 2013
Our sweet beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Lorraine Allen left her earthly body to return to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 2, 2013.
Lorraine was born July 12, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois, to Rexford & Alice Marguerite Hall Drissell. She attended college at Brigham Young University and earned her teaching degree. She enjoyed little children, always helping and listening to them read. She taught Kindergarten in Alaska and Washington. She also tutored at the Central School in Heber, a job that she loved.
She married Sidney Moore Russell (deceased), and later, married James Ford "Jim" Allen (deceased) in the Salt Lake Temple. Lorraine cooked many meals for horse customers and enjoyed entertaining friends and family.
Lorraine loved life and always had such a positive and happy attitude. She made all those around her feel loved and welcome. She gave of her talents, playing her violin at over 400 funerals to comfort others.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she had many church callings including the stake Relief Society presidency and taught many Relief Society classes. She loves her family. You will be in our thoughts and prayers forever.
Preceded in death by both her parents, both her husbands, a daughter, Michelle Allen; a son, Rexford Scott Russell; and a granddaughter, Kristi Lynne Cullimore. Survived by her son, Gregory Russell Allen (Anita), of Wallsburg; stepson, Sidney Morris Russell (Gloria), of Michigan, stepdaughter, Megan Daryl Denison, of Idaho; stepson, James Clair Allen, of Charleston; daughter-in-law, Karen Russell Christensen, of Midway; sister, Jeanne Grossen, of California; and by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 11:30 a.m., at the Wallsburg Cemetery. A viewing will be held that morning from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 494 W Main Canyon Rd. in Wallsburg, Utah.
