John M. Morrison and his wife Nancy lived in Hamblen County, Tennessee, as shown on the 1900 Hamblen County, Tennessee census. Nancy died and was buried in Hamblen County in 1909. J. M. moved to Texas after 1910, as he is shown on the 1910 Hamblen County, Tennessee census. In both the 1900 and 1910 censuses, the Morrisons are living with his daughter's family, Bell and Charlie Fox. He died at Santa Anna in 1913, according to his death certificate.

I have been told by a family member that John Morrison's parents were William Morrison (1804-1879) and Lucretia Cleland (1813-1879).
