Services for E.W. "Pops" Havens, 100, of Slaton will be at 5 p.m. today in Englund's Chapel with Ray Brannan officiating.

Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englund's Funeral Service of Slaton.

He died Thursday, July 18, 2002.

He was born Oct. 20, 1901, in Goldthwaite. In 1919, he started working for the T&P Railroad, which ran from Clyde to Baird. He married Annie Clarice Rucker Oct. 19, 1924, in Clyde. She died July 4, 1973.He moved to Slaton in 1951 and worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a machinist. He transferred to Albuquerque, N.M., in 1960, where he worked until retiring in 1966. He returned to Slaton and was a resident since.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Arch J. Keys Masonic Lodge 1395 in Plainview and the machinist union.

Survivors include a son, Billy Dan of Brownwood; two daughters, Bettye Jean Loggins of Plainview and JoAnn Williams of Slaton; a brother, Glen of Pasadena; three sisters, Vida Helms of San Antonio, Ermadelle Tucker of Corpus Christi and Bessie Beck of Barksdale; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
