Lucy Mildred Akers Sheetz went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013.

She was born in Monroe, La., on Aug. 2, 1924, the only child of George W. and Emma S. Akers. She grew up in Vicksburg, Miss., and graduated from Carr Central High School.

Growing up, she spent many happy summers and holidays on the family farm in Brookhaven, Miss. Nana loved to cook and always prepared special favorites for family members. Her desserts and rolls were the very best. In their retirement, Lucy and Bill had many happy times traveling and RV'ing with special friends and family. She was very talented musically and enjoyed singing and playing several instruments.

Preceding her in death were her parents; beloved husband, William S. "Bill" Sheetz; her children's father, Joseph B. Middleton Jr.; special family friend, John Phillip Sorrells; stepdaughter, Delores Sheetz Warren.

She is survived by her daughter and best friend, Vicki Lynne Connally and son-in-law, James P. Connally; sons, Ronald B. Middleton and his wife Nancy, of Sugarland, Gary J. Middleton and his wife Mariann, of Hideaway; also, Bill and Iva Sheetz, Doug and Brenda Sheetz and Gary Warren; grandchildren, Stacy and Stoney Garner, Susan Davis, Ronald Middleton Jr., Andrew and Jennifer Middleton, Christina Middleton Hoang, Caleb and Christina Middleton, Chelsi and Cliff Smith, Carson Middleton, John Sheetz, Brandon Warren, Amy Warren, Chris Sheetz, Chad Sheetz and Sheetz family grandchildren, Peyton Garner, Pierson Garner, Olivia Middleton, Jacob Hoang, Claire Middleton and Cambri Smith.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler, with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Tyler Memorial Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Heart to Heart Hospice, 1402 Rice Rd., Tyler, 75703. Tyler Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery is entrusted with the arrangements.
