DOVER-FOXCROFT - John Elwin Alexa, 77, loving husband of Judith (Boone) Alexa, died Feb. 1, 2007, surrounded by his family at home, after a long battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of John J. and Marion (Miller) Alexa. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion. Like many of his generation, he was reticent to talk about his service, but proud to have served his country. John was an electrician by trade and loved to hunt and fish. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy of Dover-Foxcroft; two daughters, Hope and her husband, Stephen Page, of Dover-Foxcroft, and Marilou and her husband, Casey Conner, of Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands; a sister, Anna McKinney of Massachusetts; a special cousin, Ivan Smith of Dover-Foxcroft; 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to share in a time of fellowship and remembrances 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at the Gerrish-Warren Community Center, Thayer Parkway, Dover-Foxcroft, where an eulogy will be said 6:30 p.m. Graveside committal services in the family lot at Rural Grove Cemetery will be announced in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.
