He was born in Oxford, MS and lived in Shelby County 35 years. He was a member of Levi Baptist Church.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Rosie Beaver Turner; three sons, J.T. Turner Jr. and Paul Turner of Memphis and J.W. Turner of Blytheville, AR; four daughters, Mrs. John Lipsey, Mrs. Boyd Billingsley, and Mrs. E.L. Trout of Memphis, and Mrs. J.W. Entwistle of Augusta, GA; two brothers, Victor Turner of Victoria, TX and Herbert Turner of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Flora Stripling of Oxford and Mrs. James Henry of Batesville, MS; 33 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
