Graveside services for Ora Pierce Groves, 100, of Nebraska City, who died January 8, 1987 at St. Mary's Hospital, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City, with the Rev. Lloyd Boyce officiating.
Mrs. Groves was born March 5, 1886 at Thurman, Iowa, the daughter of George and Cornelia Goldsberry. She and Orland Piece were married in January of 1905. He preceded her in death in September of 1929. She and Amos Groves were married in May of 1948. He preceded her in death in 1965. She was also preceded in death by four sons.
A retired homemaker, Mrs. Groves formerly lived in Union.
Survivors include two daughters, Ethel Manuel and Mrs. Robert (Betty) Harrah, both of Union; a sister, Vina Howe of Redlands, California; 27 grandchildren and 75 great-grandchildren.
The casket will lie in state Friday afternoon and evening at Lett-Marshal Funeral Home in Union, while friends may meet with the family from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, which is in charge of arrangements.
