RALEIGH, NC-- Mary Elizabeth Cleveland Henderson, 88, of Raleigh, formerly of Spartanburg, SC, died peacefully Monday, November 19, 2012.
Mary lived most of her life in Spartanburg, SC. She was the daughter of the late Albert Cleveland and Sally Husley Cleveland. She was the loving wife of the late William Lawrence Henderson, who died in 1983. In addition to her careers in both textiles and banking, she devoted many years of service to Hospice in Spartanburg.
Later in her life, her joy was spending time with her great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her son, Lawrence Ray Henderson and wife Jo Ann of Charlotte; her grandson, David Lawrence Henderson of Charlotte; devoted granddaughter, Amy Henderson Fullbright and husband, Kent, and their children; Charlotte and Henry, all of Raleigh; one sister, Sarah Flynn of Chicago, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Hayes Barton Baptist Church, Raleigh. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be private in Spartanburg.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Abbottswood and Elsie's Place for their loving care and support, over many years.
