Betty (Grove) Holshey, 87, of Washington St., Lonaconing died Friday, February 1, 2013 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing. Born on April 13, 1925 in Lonaconing she was the daughter of the late Lee Dewey Grove and Pearl (Nicol) Grove.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Holshey on March 15, 1976 and two brothers, Dewey and Charles Grove.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing, where she was part of the United Methodist Women. After retiring from the Celanese in the bobbin stores she spent some time as a waitress at Nettie Kelly's in Lonaconing. She loved to volunteer and was very involved in numerous organizations. She enjoyed cooking dinners at the church and the fire company. She was a lifetime member of the Goodwill Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, the former Alvin C. Neat Post #5280 V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, George's Creek Ambulance Service, Republican Club and Lonaconing Senior Citizens. She was also a 65 year member of Morning Star Temple #1 Pythian Sisters, Lonaconing where she was Past Grand Chief of Maryland. Among her many activities she kept busy babysitting her grandchildren while their parents were at work. She was a wonderful grandmother.

She is survived by her two children, Dorothy Thompson and husband Biff of Lonaconing and Gary Holshey and wife Bonnie also of Lonaconing; four grandchildren, Luke Thompson and girlfriend Tami Torrey, Mitch Thompson and Tara and Jenna Holshey and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A. (www.eichhornmckenzie.com), Lonaconing on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Memorial services will be held by Goodwill Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary at 7:00 PM, Allegany and Garrett County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Ladies Auxiliary at 7:15 PM, Morning Star Temple #1 Pythian Sisters at 8:00 PM and George's Creek Ambulance Service at 8:15 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Fred Iser officiating. Interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church at 14 Church Street, Lonaconing, MD 21539, George's Creek Library at 76 Main Street, Lonaconing, MD 21539 or the Goodwill Fire Company at 6 Douglas Avenue, Lonaconing, MD 21539.

Pallbearers will be members of the Goodwill Fire Company.
