Funeral services were held Sunday at the Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth White, 87 years old, who died at her home near Hatcher Friday after a brief illness. Rev. Holman Cowherd conducted the services and burial was in the Liberty Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, James Dan White. The couple recently celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary, and were among the few in Taylor County who have been married that length of time. Besides husband, Mrs. White is survived by three sons: Wilbur White, San Joe, Ill.; George White, Hatcher; James White, Louisville; three daughters: Mrs. Pearl Stailey, Hopedale, Ill.; Mrs. Winsey Hubbard, of Mason City, Ill.; and Mrs. Nolan Gilpin, Taylor County. Mrs. White made profession of faith in early life and was united with the Soul's Chapel Methodist Church of which she remained a faithful member until death. Pallbearers were: Reeser Miller, Joe Miller, Garlan and Douglas White, Edwin and Forest Gilpin. ~The News-Journal, Thursday, February 13, 1941
