A. Louis Rogers, Jr., 89, architect, of St. Simons Island and formerly of Atlanta, died February 6, 2005. Lou Rogers received his architectural degree from Georgia Tech in 1949. He practiced architecture in Atlanta, Jacksonville and Paris until retiring to St. Simons Island in 1995. He was an accomplished musician and played trombone in the Atlanta Seventeen big band, which he co-founded in the sixties. During World War II, he served as a pilot in the Navy and continued to serve in the Naval Reserve until retirement. Surviving are his wife, Sara Lowe Rogers, St. Simons Island; a son,Mark Rogers, Atlanta; three daughters, Ellen Rogers Donaldson, Seattle, Wa., Beth Rogers Hinson, Marietta and Jolee Rogers Benoit, St. Simons Island; a brother, Joseph D. Rogers, San Juan Capistrano, Ca.; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
