Last Rites Held for Jule Briscoe

Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon Jan. 23rd for Jule Briscoe, 86, a longtime resident of the Sheridan Community. Mr. Briscoe passed away at his home Sunday evening after a relatively short illness.

Last rites were held from the Sheridan Church of Christ with Gary Scott officiating. Interment was made in the Cheatham Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Harry Earl See of Houston, Emmett Shook of Beaumont, B.J. Bures (Burris), Isam Briscoe Jr., Zane Briscoe and Bud Briscoe of Sheridan. Mill-Bauer Funeral Home of Eagle Lake was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Briscoe was born on Mar. 7, 1874 to Albert Briscoe and Caroline Criswell in Lavaca County, but spent most of his life in the Sheridan area.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. L H. Helmke of Houston and Mrs. Joe Shook of Anahuac; fourteen grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Four children preceded him in death.
