Mrs. Margaret RHOADS, one of the oldest & most highly respected citizens of this place passed away Monday morning at 11:30 o'clock after a 13 day illness of pneumonia and heart trouble. Margaret Hannah Osborn, dau. of Anderson and Mary Maple Osborn, was born on a farm near Carpentersville, Indiana Sept 7, 1832 and died at her home in Waveland, Indiana, Oct 7, 1907, age 75 years, 1 month. She received most of her education at the Waveland Academy, graduating from that institution in 1860. After completing her education she taught school near Greencastle and afterward in the Waveland School. June 6, 1861, she was married to William F. Rhoads, who preceded her to the great beyond May 17, 1891. Two years ago she met with an accident which resulted in a lameness which never left her and the shock she then received caused a nervousness which ended only with her life. Early in life she united with the Presbyterian Church and remained a faithful consistent Christian. She was an active worker in every department of the Church, and has been a member of the missionary society ever since its organization. She leaves one brother, John Osborn, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Allison, both of Roachdale, together with a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Thomas G. Pearce at the Presbyterian Church at 11 o'clock this (Wed) morning, after which the body was laid to rest in the Presbyterian Cemetery beside her husband. "She hath done what she could and her works do follow her."
