Obituary ~ C.C. Powers died at his home in Addison, Jan. 15 at 1:30 o'clock. His death was caused from rheumitism affecting his heart and was quite a shock to his relatives and friends, though he had been in failing health for a number of years. He was 71 years of age, born in Holt, Kentucky, October 6, 1854. His entire life had been spent here. He united with the Baptist Church a number of years ago and lived a true Christian life. His kind disposition made for him numbers of friends. In the year 1871 he was married to Miss Mary Merritt who departed this life December 1909.
Mr. Powers is survived by two daughters, Mrs. C.R. Black of Addison and Mrs. William Ahl of Stephensport, also two brothers, Joe Powers of Lodiburg and William Powers of Evansville, Indiana, and one sister Mrs. Mary Wilson of Bloomington, Indiana, seven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. S.L. Coward at the ME Church of Stephensport Sunday afternoon at 2 p'clock. The burial followed in the Merritt Cemetery near Stephensport.
