Clifford L. Whiting, a former resident of Bedford and well-known here,died in the Harrisburg Hospital Tuesday evening, Sept 11.
Mr. Whiting resided in Bedford for approximately 12 years where he was associated with Supplee Wills-Jones Milk Co. A charter member of the Bedford Rotary Club, he was active in civic affairs in the community. His two sons, Robert and Richard, distinguished themselves as athletics in high school here.
He was born in Delevan,N.Y., a son of Loren and Laura (Daggett) Whiting. He graduated from Delevan Teachers Training School and attended Cornell University. Later he graduated from Mayners School of Bacteriology. For the past eight years he had lived in Wormleysburg. Until his retirement he was associated with the State Agricultural Department. He was a member of the Elks Club and the Pine Street Presbyterian Church, Wormleysburg.
He was married to the former Gladys Elliott who survives with the two sons, Robert, Edmeston,N.Y., and Richard, Linthicum Heights,MD. Also surviving are three grandchildren,Marilyn and Robert,children of Robert, and Sherry Lynn, daughter of Richard; two brothers.William Bradenton, Fla., and Ralph, Buffalo, N.Y.,and a sister, Gowana Whiting,Delevan.
Funeral services were held at Caldwell officiating. Interment was in teh Bedford Cemetery.
