Mrs. V. Sue Bemis Whitley, of Pascagoula, MS died Thursday, January 30, 2013 in a Marietta, GA hospital. Born in Winona, MS to the late Lloyd and Hazel Hubbert Kelly, she had been a resident of Pascagoula for over 60 years. Mrs. Whitley retired in 1985 after 30 years of service as an executive secretary to Mr. Robert Lingle with Singing River Hospital Systems. She had previously worked as a secretary at Pascagoula High School. Mrs. Whitley loved working in her yard, playing the piano, traveling, but most of all spending time with her four granddaughters. She was a member of Eastlawn United Methodist Church and will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children, Mr. Harry Bemis, in July 1997.
Among her survivors are a son Richie Bemis and his wife Jennifer of Bay Minette, AL, a daughter Beth Ford and her husband Billy of Acworth, GA, three brothers Wayne McKnIght, Jimmy Kelly and his wife Joanne, and Russell Jones and his wife Barbara and four granddaughters Jessalyn Ford, Jana Ford, Elizabeth Bemis, and Catherine Bemis.
Funeral service will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 AM from Eastlawn United Methodist Church with Reverend Gene Vance officiating. Interment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Those unable to attend may register at www.obryantokeefe.com. Services are under the direction of O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home of Pascagoula.
