Sgt. Moses Andrews was the son of Lt. John Andrews and Mary (Goff) Andrews. He married Lydia (Root) Andrews, and they had nine sons: Samuel, Moses Jr. (I), Joseph, Moses Jr. (II), Isaac, John, Jesse, Nathaniel and Seth. He and his wife were founding members of the First Congregational Church in New Britain, CT. He was a veteran of the Old French (King George's) War. At the time of the American Revolution he was a member of the local Sons of Liberty, and he and his wife had six of their sons serve in the American Army during the Revolution.
