Derwood Downs, 81, of Bentonville, Ark., and a former longtime resident of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville, Ark.
He was born March 7, 1923, in Davidson, Okla., to Tom Carrol Downs and Buelah Duncan Downs.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He and his wife owned and operated Downs Furniture in Rogers for many years and were active in the community. He enjoyed working on cars.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Cora Downs; a son, Jerry Downs of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; two daughters, Darlene of San Diego, Calif., and Danea of Bentonville; a brother, Wayburn Downs of Nevada; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many cousins and adopted daughters; and a lifelong friend Ed Booth.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel in Bentonville.
Arrangements are by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Benton County Memorial Park's Funeral Home Chapel (3800 W. Walnut) in Rogers, Arkansas.
Inurnment will follow for both Cora and Derwood Downs at Benton County Memorial Park.
