She was born on April 13, 1935, in Bath, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Willie Woolard and the late Lucy Thomas Hollis. On August 14, 1953, she married Cloice Barnum, who survives. Mrs. Barnum was a member of the Stryker United Methodist Church.
Surviving besides her husband, Cloice, are three daughters Debra (Rod) Britenriker of West Unity, Kate (Herman) Frank of Stryker, and Karen (Cliff) Vandemark of Hickville; son David (Diane) Barnum of Stryker; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers Lindsey Woolard and Frank (Shirley) Woolard, both of Washington, NC, and sister-in-law, Cottie Mae Woolard of Bellhaven, NC. Preceding her in death besides her parents were two grandchildren, two brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 1, 2006, at the Stryker United Methodist Church with Rev. Melvin Peter officiating. Interment will follow in the Stryker Cemetery. Friends may call at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker from 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm on Tuesday. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Stryker United Methodist Church or the American Lung Association.
