# 1 - - Pilot, December 26, 1928

The community was shocked to learn of the death of one of its oldest residents, Peter Christensen, which occurred Sunday morning, December 23. He had been ailing for a few days owing to having an attack of the flu, but was that morning feeling some better. He had gone out to feed his chickens that morning when he fell. R. H. Rasmussen, a neighbor, seeing him, ran to help but death had claimed its victim. Mr. Christensen expired instantly. He is survived by two sons, Charles and John, who both reside in the west. No funeral arrangements have been made as yet, waiting for the arrival of the sons for plans.

# 2 - - Pilot, January 2, 1929

The funeral of Peter C. Christensen, whose death we mentioned in last week's columns, was held at the Baptist church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. P.H. Petersen officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. L.V. Ackerman, Mrs. C.E. Johnson, C.R. Gday and Fred Robertson, with Mrs. Peterson as musician. The body was laid to rest by the side of his wife in the Blair Cemetery.

Mr. Christensen was born in Norre Nehel, Juttland, Denmark, May 1, 1843, and passed away at his home in Herman December 23, 1928, at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 22 days. He came to America in 1867, first locating in Wisconsin where he remained for about a year. He next came to Omaha but shortly left there for Laramie, Wyoming, where he was in the employ of the Union Pacific Railway Company. He returned to Omaha in 1873 where he married Miss Kristine Madsen. Mr. and Mrs. Christensen moved to a farm four miles west of Herman where they resided until 1894. They then sold their farm and came to town where they purchased their home in which they lived until death claimed them. Mrs. Christensen passed away February 24, 1927.

He leaves to mourn his loss two sons, Charles P., of Landen, Calif., and John H. of Oregon; a number of other relatives and a host of friends. Mr. Christensen was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
