Dr. William R. Cubbins, 85, of Dundee, Northwestern University Medical School teacher for more than 35 years and a founder of the American College of Surgeons, died Sunday in Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was know to hundreds of students as "Dr. Bill".
Dr. Cubbins graduated from Northwestern in 1900 and was a former president of the university alumni association. He was chief of the surgical staff at Cook county hospital for 12 years and became a member of the staff at Wesley Memorial and St. Luke's hospitals. He was the father of William Cubbins, Jr.
