Naomi M. Coates, 87, formerly of Hoffman Drive, Loudonville, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at McMullen Assisted Care, Loudonville, following a short illness.
Naomi was born March 4, 1925, in Miami, Okla., and was the daughter of Charles and Florence M. (née Midkiff) Megee.
She was a 1943 graduate of Canton McKinley High School and worked for the Timken Co. following graduation.
On Jan. 18, 1947, she married Adrian "Bud" R. Coates Jr., and they shared 65 years before his death Oct. 5, 2012.
In 1962, they moved to Loudonville and she worked as a cook for Loudonville High School and later in the payroll department of The Flxible Co. for 10 years.
Naomi was a member of Ashland Christian Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Charles) Burd of Ligonier, Pa.; son-in-law, Elmer Kline of Loudonville; five grandchildren, Robin (John) Grace, Traci (David) Burd-Hover, Chuck (Jodie) Burd, Jennifer Kline and Amanda (Ryan) Lininger; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Leonard Megee of Wadsworth.
Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a daughter, Cynthia Kline, who died Sept. 10, 2012.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with her son-in-law, Charles Burd, and grandson, Chuck Burd, officiating. Burial will follow in Loudonville Cemetery.
Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at the funeral home.
