Howard Clayton Bailey, 91, passed away on Sunday January 27, 2013 in Jacksonville. A visitation will take place from 5pm 7pm on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Boulevard Jacksonville, Fl 32211.

Howard was born December 11, 1921 in the township of Chester in southwestern Ohio to Herbert and Francie Bailey. He was the youngest of four children and grew up on a small rural farm.

Howard was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp and served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was honorably discharged and then completed a Finance degree at the University of Ohio under the GI Bill. He married Mabel Brown on January 29, 1945 in Findlay, Ohio.

Howard joined the Internal Revenue Service and moved to Florida where he worked as a Corporate Auditor until he retired. He continued to work part time for a local CPA firm. Howard was a long time resident of Jacksonville and loved playing golf, ball room dancing, camping, volunteering with the Boy Scouts and serving as a deacon and was a long-time member at Holiday Hill Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was active in the American Ballroom Society, German American Club and served as president of the Jacksonville Ballroom Society.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Mabel Bailey as well as two sons Rodney Bailey and Chad Bailey and two grandsons. A grave side service will be held in Chester, Ohio for final interment.
