Co. B, 11th NC, C.S.A.He was the son of William Clontz and Mary "Polly" Clark Clontz of Burke Co., NC. He enlisted Co. B, 11th Regiment NC troops C.S.A. in Burke Co., NC Oct 20, 1864 and was accounted for and present until being captured in hospital at Richmond, VA, April 3, 1865. He was confined at Libby Prison in Richmond until being transferred to Newport News, VA April 24, 1865. He was hospitalized at Newport News on May 23, 1865 with "debilitas" and died June 14, 1865.
He was buried in a Confederate soldier mass grave.
