Doris Kathleen Mohr, age 101, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, with her loving daughter at her side, at the Elizabeth Scott House in Maumee. She was born to Edward and Ada (Augustine) Heer on September 20, 1911 in Burlington, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E. Mohr and her son, David Marvin Mohr. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann (Cary) Cooper; daughter-in-law, Diana Mohr; six grandchildren, Scott Mohr; Laura (Bill) Church; Ed Mohr; Matt (Lana) Cooper; Rod (Lauri) Cooper and Jenny (Mike Dawson) Cooper; nine great-grandchildren, Robbie and Kathryn Church; Joshua and Jacob Mohr; Liam and Stella Cooper; Zoe and Alex Cooper; and Charlie Cooper Dawson; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Archbold High School, Doris attended Bowling Green State University to become a teacher. She started her first teaching job in 1931 in a two-room country school in Elmira, Ohio. She married Marvin in Fayette, Ohio on October 21, 1932. They lived in Toledo and joined Pilgrim Church, where Doris was active in church work, taught Sunday school and was a Girl Scout leader. She taught at Warren and Longfellow Elementary Schools in Toledo. Doris and Marvin retired to Spring Hill, Florida in 1977. In 1997, they moved back to Northwest Ohio to be near family. Doris continued teaching as a volunteer tutor in Spring Hill and also (into her 90's!) at Otterbein Portage Valley.

Friends and family may visit at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St. Maumee, Ohio on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 2pm - 4pm and 6pm-8pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 1pm. Interment to follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
