John Justus Henkle was married in 1774 in Rockingham County Virginia,to Christina Negley,She was born September 18,1755 Rowan County N.C., Was the daughter of Balthaser and Christina (Raisch)Negeley (Nagli). Ohio.They were the parents of eight children.John Jr,was one of the two younger children of Jost Henchel,Sr,born in the German settlement in Rowan County,North Carolina.He was eight years of age when he was brought to the Henkel settlement in Germany Valley then in Augusta County,Virginia. He was raised and educated in the vicinity of Hinkle's fort.

John is in the Henkle book in Third Generation.
