Elma Loretta Shepherd was born June 29, 1925 in Perry, Oklahoma the daughter of Harry Bernard and Ica Dora (Parker) Hamblin. Elma died Monday, January 28, 2013 at Companions Care Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was 87 years of age. The former Miss Elma L. Hamblin was married to Roy Cooper in 1946 in Winfield, Kansas. Roy preceded her in death in 1975. She married Tom Shepherd in 1977 and he preceded her in death in 1996. Elma was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, fishing and quilting. She was involved in her church and liked to cook and bake for church events. She was a member of Lighthouse Assembly in Locust Grove. The farm was part of her grandparents homestead. The house was a two room wooden structure built over a rock dugout. The dugout was built during the Oklahoma Land Run.
