Anna moved from Williamson County, Texas to Amarillo, TX with her parents and siblings in 1891. When they moved to Amarillo, it had only one street. Her brother Al Morris caught a prairie dog and gave it to sister Annie for a pet. It made a real nice pet, but it had to have a drink of water every fifteen minutes. It drank alot of water. The prairie dog had a game it played every morning. It would go out and run down the street and get every dog after it. When Annie heard all of the dogs barking, she would run and hold the door open and the little prairie dog would be running for his dear life. He would make a dash for the door and slide across the floor, puffing and panting. Annie would close the door behind him. All the dogs in town would be at their door barking and raising sand. When the prairie dog caught his breath he would go over and get him a drink of water. He seemed to enjoy the game, he did it every morning.

Anna attended the Goodnight College.

Anna was reknowned for her hair. A college classmate remarked "she had the most beautiful hair, it was so long she could sit on it".

Anna's father E.J. Morris purchased the Casimiro Romero home in Tascosa, TX in 1899 and moved his family there. The marriage of Anna Laura Morris and Jasper Newton Cole of Roswell, NM took place at the home of the bride's parents E.J. and Lucy Lee Hughes Morris on May 30, 1906 in Tascosa, TX. Jess Morris brother of the bride played the violin at her wedding.
