James Alva Bailey, died January 26, 2013, at NorthCare Hospice House. He was born Dec. 2, 1923, in Whitehall, Ark., the son of Cecil W. and Ione Bailey. He served as a supply sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked at the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 43 years, retiring in 1983. He was the Regional Material Supervisor at Memphis, Tenn.; Sedalia, Mo., before finishing his career at Kansas City, Mo. He was a member of Linden Baptist Church, Gladstone, Mo., where he served as a Deacon, and many other positions. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Jessie Marie, son Donald, and three brothers, Hansel, Andy and Cecil. He is survived by his wife, Treva Fernside Bailey, son, James (Arlene) of NE, two grandchildren, Leslie (Irwin) Boe, Jeffrey (Michelle) Bailey, two sisters, Wanda Jones of MS, and Linda Wray of FL, three step children, five step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren. Contributions may be made to Linden Baptist Church. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, and funeral services at 11 a.m. at White Chapel Funeral Home, Gladstone.
