Phillip James "Grandpa Gobi" Earp, age 94, of Iberia, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2013, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. He was born in Iberia on October 17, 1918, son of the late Jim and Bertha (Ponder) Earp. On August 19, 1939, in Iberia, Phillip married Ina Lucille Atwell, who preceded him in death on June 15, 1998.

Phillip worked as a carpenter for many years in Iberia and surrounding areas. He enjoyed fox hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He is survived by one son, Jack Earp and wife Sharron of Iberia; one daughter, Pamela Graham and husband Bill of Eldon; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seventeen great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lester Earp and David Earp both of Iberia; and one sister, Vita Whitaker of Blue Springs.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Earp Barnhart in 1993 and one grandson.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Iberia Church of the Nazarene. Bro. Freddie Earp and Rev. Greg McClain will officiate. A private interment will be in Madden Cemetery near Iberia.
