Alice M. (Hitt) Stinnette, 85, of Wheatland passed away Jan. 26 at Cheyenne Healthcare Center.

Mrs. Stinnette was born May 22, 1927, in Wheatland, a daughter of the late Roy William and Mabel Pauline (Jessen) Hitt.

While raising her family, she attended night school and received her associate degree in elementary education. She taught and served as a coordinator for Head Start in Wheatland and later worked as the head bookkeeper for Two-Bar Ranch Inc. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Chugwater and served as Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Laurel Leaf Chapter of Chugwater. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed bead work, gardening, crossword puzzles and ceramics. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, particularly helping to raise her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Steven Stinnette of Chugwater and Michael Stinnette of Butler, Mo.; her daughter, Cristine Snook of Cheyenne; a brother, Roy Hitt of Wheatland; a sister, Louise Clark of Paige, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Leslie Stinnette on Jan. 27, 2010; and a sister, Irene Pelsue.
