Albert Freeman Tilton was born on May 18 or 29, 1851 in Limerick, York County, Maine. He died on February 26or 28, 1876 in Waterville, Kennebec County, Maine. He is buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterville, Kennebec County, Maine.
He married Anne Jane Low on November 5, 1874 in Waterville, Kennebec County, Maine. (She was born on January 21, 1854 in Maine and died in May 1921 in Waterville, Kennebec County, Maine. She is buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterville, Kennebec County, Maine.)
They had no children.
As a matter of confusion, Albert is sometimes listed as a son of Jeremiah and Abigail Tilton, and also as a son of his aunt and uncle Albert and Rebecca Tilton. Albert was in fact the son of Jeremiah and Abigail Tilton, but was adopted by his widowed aunt Rebecca Tilton in 1861. Rebecca was the widow of Albert Freeman Tilton (his namesake) and she had recently lost her last child (who was also named Albert Freeman Tilton). It seems that at the time, Albert assumed the identity of his dead cousin of the same name. This Albert was only about a year younger than his deceased cousin.
Albert was raised in Waterville, Maine. He was trained as a jeweler and watchmaker in Waltham, Massachusetts.
He returned to Waterville where he plied his trade there.
He died from "congestion of the lungs" at an early age.
His widow afterwards married Francis A. Moor, who was the nephew of Albert's adopted mother (and aunt) Rebecca Moor Tilton Drinkwater.
